If you’re on a Mac, and missed your CHM files, I’ve been there. I’ve tried most (if not all) CHM reader for Mac. Chamonix, Chmosx, Chmox, iChm, xCHM, you name it. After some searching hours, I found ArCHMock. It feels like finding an oasis!
Here’s why:
Many thanks to Vyacheslav Zakovyrya for creating ArCHMock, reading CHM on Mac OS X Leopard is fun again!
Being introduced to web technology
circa 2001, i get more and more
interested in it. So, here I am,
learning and sharing about
web development, database design,
and some personal thoughts.

Hi all, just realized that i set the comments to moderated mode (LOL).
lambrtz: the other articles are outdated, so i decided to move them to trash. If you’re interested in particular topic, let me know. Perhaps i’ll write a new article on it

Well, ArCHMock crashes immediately it’s launched (under 10.4.11 on my Quad G5 PPC Mac).
Sorry, back to the drawing board…

Hi, Mike. Sorry to hear that, looks like it’s for Leopard only.

Thanks, Man. ArCHMock works fine for me on Leopard 10.5.6.
I really appreciate the pointer.

Does it have the possibility to change text encoding? i.e. to unicode utf-8 etc…

I don’t think so, can’t find any user-customizable preferences, it’s just a basic chm reader that works

Hi Riyono,
I did a little research. To me, ArCHMock looks fine initially, but when I try to use search tool (running Snow Leopard), it does not work.
I downloaded iChm 1.4 and compared it with ArCHMoc. Perhaps they improved iChm after your review. I noticed many nice features that work great!
In iChm you will find:
-Search engine works fine
-Tabs to organize your research
-Save whole file to PDF
-Undo and redo
-More ways to search
-Text encoding
-More tools for bookmarks like Group by Files or Group by Tags
-And a Help menu available
Please let me know your toughs.
All the best!
Diego

Wow, thanks Diego, I’ve tried iChm 1.4.1 and it’s really great—lots of improvement since last time I tried it, one and a half year ago. I think i have to do something with this blog—after almost a year not posting anything, the posts seems obsolete, LOL—anyway. Perhaps I’ll simply take this blog down and replace this with a new, rethinked site.

Udah coba IChm tapi terasa lambat atau hang pada saat melakukan pencarian.
